Throughout her life, Aarti has always been active. Being an avid
fan of aerobics in her teens and early adult life, she remained devoted
to cardiovascular exercise but never once gave a second thought to
using any of the weight training equipment at the gym. Like a lot of
women, she always thought that that equipment was for the "big
guys". She continued this trend and managed to stay in shape even
after her first child was born. Things, however, were different after
the second one. Seven months after delivery, at 5'2", she
had blossomed to a size 10; and was still wearing maternity clothes
as she could not fit into any of her pre-pregnancy clothes.
Walking was her only source of exercise and it did not seem to help
much as far as weight loss. Overweight, depressed, and sad she decided
that she did not want to live her life like this. Instead of just
accepting her weight gain, she decided to make some serious changes
because she knew that if she didn't, her weight gain would only
accelerate from here on and she didn't want to live her life overweight
and unhealthy.
At this time she also came across a weight loss program that
involved weight training and cardiovascular exercises along with eating
several small nutritious meals a day. The "before" and
"after" pictures were very convincing and motivating and
she immediately thought, "If they can do it, I can too!"
The only catch was that she had never picked up a dumbbell before and
didn't know what to do with it. Needless to say, she followed the
intense program meticulously working out at home – 3 days of
weight training and 3 days of cardio with good nutrition. She also
learned to modify her favorite Indian foods and prepare healthy dishes.
She cut back on all sweets and desserts and used them only as a reward.
In 3 to 4 months, she saw her physical transformation take place. She
dropped several dress sizes and in the process developed a newfound appreciation of the true benefits of weight training along with eating healthy. She was hooked!
This is when she decided that she wanted to help others struggling
with their weight loss to make lifestyle changes and experience the
benefits of leading a healthy life. Happy with her results but still
not completely satisfied, she hired a personal trainer to further help
her achieve her fitness goals.
As Aarti continues to help others with their fitness goals, she also
continues to make gains with her own. Having been through her weight
loss, and successfully maintaining it for several years now, she
strongly believes that a well-rounded physical fitness program which
includes strength training, cardiovascular exercise and good nutrition
is the only way to achieve a lean, strong, healthy body. It is this
principle that Aarti instills in her clients to help them realistically
achieve their weight loss and fitness goals. Also, Aarti strongly feels
that women should not use having had children as an excuse to be
overweight and unhealthy and that it's never too late to make
changes when it comes to one's health and fitness.
