BMI stands for Body Mass Index
and is calculated by weight in kg divided by height in meters squared
(BMI= kg/m2). Although BMI ranges shown in the table below are not exact
ranges of healthy and unhealthy weight, they are useful guidelines. A BMI
of 25 29.9 indicates that a person is overweight. Someone with a BMI of 30
or higher is considered obese. However, BMI does not show the difference
between excess fat and muscle. It also predicts the development of health
problems related to excess weight and is, therefore, used by health care
