| Q: | I'm trying to lose weight and currently do only cardio. I want to try strength training but my friend says that it will make me gain weight. Is that true? |
| A: | Strength training will actually help you burn more calories. With doing just cardio, you only burn calories during your workout. Muscles are metabolically active tissue and the more muscle you have, the more overall calories you burn even when you are inactive. The increase in weight which is usually very minor is due to the fact that muscle mass weighs more than fat. Sticking with a weight training program in the long run, will defiantly help you lose weight and become leaner. |
